Step
1
Open
a background. Choose the rectangular marquee tool from the toolbox
and select the bottom part of the image.

Step 2
Select
Transform-Distort from the Edit menu. Click the 3rd screen mode
button on the toolbox palette for full screen mode. Drag the bottom
left point to the left about 2 inches. Then press Enter. Press
f on the keyboard to return to Standard screen mode.

Step 3
Press
shift control I to inverse the selection. Notice the top part
of the background is now selected. In the Select menu choose Feather,
type 50 and press Enter.

Step 4
Press
Control-L to bring up the Levels dialog. Move the middle (Midtone)
slider to the right to darken the top part of backdrop.

Step 5
Your
done. Now just add your subject to the picture.
